Locale Proof · last updated 18 August 2026

Locale Proof audits how a Shopify store presents its published languages. It does not need to know anything about your customers, and it does not ask.

Locale Proof requests four permissions: read translations, write translations, read languages, and read markets. None of them reaches a customer’s name, address, email address, phone number, payment details or orders. This is a property of what Shopify will let the app see, not a promise about how we behave — you can verify it on the permissions screen before you install.

What is stored

What is never stored

Customer records of any kind, order data, payment information, and the content of your products beyond what is needed to report whether a translation exists.

What the app writes to your store

On the free plan, nothing. On paid plans, Locale Proof can write translations where the correct value is unambiguous — never anything else, and never without recording it in the log described above. It cannot edit your theme, your products, your prices or your settings, because it never requests permission to.

Who else sees it

Nobody. Data is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or analytics providers. It is held in a private database with no public access path, and is used only to produce your own reports.

Deleting it

Uninstalling the app stops all activity immediately. Shopify then sends a deletion request on its normal schedule, and everything above — including the append-only record — is erased in full. There is no partial deletion: the record is removed whole rather than edited. You can also ask us directly at the address below.

Where it is processed

The app runs on Vercel and stores data in Supabase (United States). Crawls of your public storefront are run from a machine we operate; they request the same pages any search engine would.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the change will be dated here and shown in the app.
